Wyatt Underhill

Violinist Wyatt Underhill is the assistant concertmaster of the San Francisco Symphony, and was acting associate concertmaster from 2022-2025. Prior to joining the SFS, he held the titles of assistant concertmaster and acting associate concertmaster with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and associate concertmaster with Symphony in C.
Wyatt has appeared as soloist with the San Francisco Symphony, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Mid-Atlantic Symphony, and the Oberlin Orchestra, among others. He is a regular concerto soloist with the San Francisco Philharmonic, and has performed as soloist alongside artists ranging from Joshua Bell to Sting. As a chamber musician and recitalist, he has toured China and made appearances at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the Gualala Arts Center, and the Sitka Fine Arts Camp.
As concertmaster, Wyatt has worked with acclaimed conductors including Michael Tilson Thomas, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Gustavo Dudamel, and John Williams. He has served as concertmaster of the Lakes Area Music Festival orchestra, guest concertmaster with the Kansas City and New Haven Symphonies, and guest principal second with the Houston Symphony Orchestra. His concertmaster soli can be heard on the San Francisco Symphony’s Grammy-winning recording of Kaija Saariaho’s opera Adriana Mater with Esa-Pekka Salonen conducting, as well as on the 2024 recording of Michael Tilson Thomas’ Urban Legend.
Wyatt received top prizes in the Irving M. Klein Competition and the Minnesota Orchestra Young Artist Competition and is a graduate of Oberlin Conservatory and the Juilliard School.
